Steam Train Adventures + Guided Walks in the Brecon Beacons Led by Sarah Price –
Professional Walking Guide & Founder of Walk Hay
Looking for a day out that’s a little different? One with a touch of adventure, a dose of fresh mountain air, and no need to worry about maps, fitness levels, or finding the right path?
New for 2025, Walk Hay is teaming up with Brecon Mountain Railway to offer Ride & Ramble – a series of steam train and guided walk experiences that take you beyond the tracks and into the wild beauty of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.
🌿 Walks Led by a Professional, with Care

I’m Sarah Price – founder of Walk Hay, qualified Mountain Leader (Mountain Training Association), outdoor first aid trained, mental health first aider, and an ambassador for the Brecon Beacons National Park.
I’ve spent years guiding people across these hills and valleys, helping them experience meaningful time in nature – no matter their walking experience or fitness. Whether you're a seasoned walker or someone who’s never hiked before, I’ll look after you, guide you safely, and make sure you enjoy every step of the way.
You don’t need to be super fit or confident in the mountains to join one of my walks. I’ll help with navigation, tricky stiles, uneven ground – and make sure you never feel rushed or out of place.
🚶♀️ What to Expect: Ride, Ramble, Reconnect
Your day starts at Pant Station, where you’ll board one of Brecon Mountain Railway’s beautifully restored steam trains. You’ll travel through stunning scenery to a drop-off point in the mountains – where the real adventure begins.
From there, I’ll lead the group on a guided walk into the lesser-known parts of the national park. Think hidden waterfalls, peaceful reservoirs, ancient stones, and panoramic ridgelines – all carefully chosen for their beauty, seasonal interest, and accessibility.
Each walk has a different theme and feel – from gentle explorations to more adventurous circular hikes. We walk in small groups so that everyone can feel relaxed, connected, and supported.
