About the event

Embark on a picturesque journey through the Herefordshire countryside with our guided walk, starting in the charming village of Kingstone and culminating at the magnificent Hereford Cathedral. This 8-mile route is a segment of the newly established Golden Valley Pilgrim Way. Traverse through scenic fields, tranquil woodlands, and serene country lanes, eventually following the tranquil path alongside the River Wye as you approach the vibrant heart of the city. This enchanting walk offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and historic splendor, promising a memorable experience for all who join.

This new pilgrim’s path has so much history and natural beauty to discover, we will be spoilt as we wander together. ABBEYDORE DEANERY | GOLDEN VALLEY PILGRIM WAY

We are breaking the route down into day sections giving people a chance to experience the route without having to walk it all in one go!

Just like the famous Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route, this Golden Valley path has a beautiful 'credential' (passport), which can be purchased for £5 and can be stamped at various churches along the way giving you satisfaction, and a memory of your walk, (the ticket price for these walks will also include a donation to the churches that we get the stamps at of £2 per church).

(Nearer the time, arrangements will be made to catch a bus from Hereford to the start together)

The walk will be led by 'setting our intention' at the start, and there may be sections of reflective quiet walking to contemplate and relax in our natural surroundings. It is a 'non-religious' pilgrimage, but hopefully a spiritual one.

You are welcome to bring a walking staff as an indication of your pilgrim status, & you will receive a scallop shell to attach to your rucksack, also as a sign you are walking the pilgrim way.
