About the event
Join me for a beautiful 10-mile circular guided walk at the end of June, beginning on the quiet shores of the Usk Reservoir at the western edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We start the day with an easy, scenic stretch that skirts the water’s edge before gradually climbing onto the open moorland of Mynydd Myddfai—a broad, sweeping ridge rising to 440m and forming part of the Fforest Fawr Geopark.
This moderate walk rewards us with expansive views across the Carmarthenshire hills and the Brecon Beacons beyond. The ascent is steady rather than steep, with plenty of time to pause for photos, enjoy the open landscape, and take in the rich sense of space. We’ll stop for a relaxed packed-lunch break along the ridge before descending gently towards Glasfynydd Forest.
Our return brings us back around the reservoir via the impressive dam, finishing through peaceful forestry paths to complete…
