About the event
Be led by a professional Lowland Walk Leader on a Valley Walk along the Wye Valley path taking in the stunning countryside, (starting in Hay-on-Wye we do a circular loop). Half way we stop at an Artisan Organic Cider producer's orchard, (Artistraw), for a tour, and a chance to taste and buy some delicious local cider! (bring a rucksack or arrange to collect it later). We learn from Tom & Lydia at Artistraw how they source their apples, how they make the cider & so much more. What they don't know about apples, it's not worth knowing!!
After our picnic lunch at the orchard, (bring your own lunch), we head back across fields and through an ancient woodland past a motte & bailey castle overlooking the town of Hay-on Wye. On a good day we should also have stunning views of the black mountains.
We will be walking at a steady pace with plenty of rests to look at the views etc. It's roughly 7.5 miles in lenght and there is a moderate hill on the way back, but if you have an average level of fitness you will be fine, no one gets left behind and hills in stages are what we do!
