About the event

Come & be guided on the sixth section of a unique and special new Pilgrimage route which runs through the beautiful Golden Valley area of Herefordshire. This new pilgrim’s path has so much history and natural beauty to discover, we will be spoilt as we wander together. ABBEYDORE DEANERY | GOLDEN VALLEY PILGRIM WAY

We are going to be breaking the route down into manageable sections as day walks over the next 6 months giving people chance to experience the route without having to walk it all in one go!

Just like the famous Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route, this Golden Valley path has a beautiful 'credential' (passport), which can be purchased for £5 and can be stamped at various churches along the way giving you satisfaction, and a memory of your walk, (the ticket price for these walks will also include a donation to the churches that we get the stamps at of £2 per church).

This 10 mile section starts at the lovely village of Ewyas Harold climbing up onto the common above the village to see a holy well site. On the other side of this ridge we walk down to visit the stunning medieval Dore Abbey. After this it's off along the valley following the river Dore passing a famous cider producers. Up over another ridge through farmland & forestry giving great views, and eventually we reach our end point of Kingstone village with it's impressive church.

(Nearer the time, arrangements will be organised to park some cars at the end point to enable transport back to the start to collect our vehicles)

The walk will be led by 'setting our intention' at the start, and there may be sections of reflective quiet walking to contemplate and relax in our natural surroundings. It is a 'non-religious' pilgrimage, but hopefully a spiritual one.

You are welcome to bring a walking staff as an indication of your pilgrim status, & you will receive a scallop shell to attach to your ruck sack, also as a sign you are walking the pilgrim way.
