Walk Details

A professionally guided 9.5 mile countryside walk in an exceptionally beautiful and remote part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. This walk explores the 'Vale of Ewyas' which is a very long & steep-sided valley which is famous for it's priory at Llanthony, and also for the long distance path called the 'Offa's Dyke' which sits high above us on the ridge forming the border of England & Wales. This route is a varied one with a section of valley fields to start, with stunning mountains all around, then its off to see a remote ancient leaning church at the hamlet of Cmyoy. After our packed lunches its across the valley & up hill through woodland onto a high ridge which usually gives spectacular views of the valleys either side & the mountains beyond. The terrain is varied and there are hilly bits, but no mountains involved, and things will be taken at a steady pace with plenty of time for absorbing the views and taking photos! Assistance is given over stiles and anywhere where else when needed. Dogs are allowed but will need to be kept on a lead and under control, as there will probably be livestock around, and possibly ground-nesting birds. This walk starts & finishes at Llanthony priory which is free to visit, and has a cafe & a pub nearby, so if open, you can always finish with a look round & a snack or a meal.
