Guided walk on Offas Dyke path up to Hay Bluff common then woods, a neolithic burial chamber & views
Walk Details
A professionally guided 7 mile epic countryside walk in a loop from Hay-on-Wye town in Wales. taking in the views of the stunning Hay Bluff mountain above, and the far-reaching views of the Wye valley below. Come & walk firstly along part of the famous Offas' Dyke long-distance footpath, gradually climbing up through beautiful fields & woodland to reach the common area underneath the impressive Hay Bluff mountain. Then its downhill on quiet lanes, bridleways, & footpaths through woodland again to find a little-known neolithic burial site, set in a magical location over-looking the valley & the town. We return after this down through Hay common back to the start. The terrain is varied, & this walk has some steep bits, but no mountains. Things will be taken at a steady pace tough, with plenty of time for absorbing the views and taking photos! Assistance is given over stiles and anywhere where else when needed. Dogs are allowed but will need to be kept on a lead and under control, as there will probably be livestock around, and possibly ground-nesting birds. If you book over a lunchtime, feel free to bring some packed food and we can stop for a picnic! There are plenty of pubs and cafes in Hay-on-Wye to perhaps end your walk at!
