Capel-y-ffin Guided Walk Experience
Capel-y-ffin Guided Walk Experience
Come & find a secret valley with waterfalls & a tiny white isolated church in the Brecon Beacons.
Walk Details
A professionally guided 4.5 mile countryside walk in an exceptionally beautiful and remote part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. This walk explores the end of the 'Vale of Ewyas' which is a very long & steep-sided valley which is famous for it's priory at Llanthony, and also for the long distance path called the 'Offa's Dyke' which sits high above us on the ridge forming the border of England & Wales. Capel-y-ffin is a tiny hamlet of scattered farms & a stunning gem of a tiny church with it's ancient yew trees & quirky interior. We walk on disserted lanes, bridleways & footpaths initially to find a series of small waterfalls in a secret side-valley, then we head down into the valley again to visit St Mary's church before returning to the start point. The terrain is varied, but there are no steep hills or mountains involved, and things will be taken at a steady pace with plenty of time for absorbing the views and taking photos! Assistance is given over stiles and anywhere where else when needed. Dogs are allowed but will need to be kept on a lead and under control, as there will probably be livestock around, and possibly ground-nesting birds. If you book over a lunch or teatime, feel free to bring some packed food and we can stop for a picnic!
